A bridge built over a mangrove forest at Mya Padamyar Park near Ngapali Beach in Arakan State’s Thandwe Township is reportedly attracting many visitors.

More than 100 people a day visit the 500-foot-long bridge and most of them are local travellers, said U Thant Zaw Oo, managing director of Mya Padamyar Park Family.

“The plan to develop the bridge started in 2019. We opened it to the public in April 2020, but suspended it due to COVID-19. We reopened it this April,” he said.

“It is popular when travellers upload their photos at the bridge on Facebook,” he added.

The park is located about five miles from Ngapali Beach and construction of it is about 30% complete at the moment. The park’s construction has been envisioned as a five-year project.

Visitors to the park can enjoy the beauty of the mangrove forest from a tower in the park, U Thant Zaw Oo said.

“We place Arakan traditions in the park. There are images of the Arakan mythical creature Byarla and a couple in Arakanese dress. We are going to build water fountains and pools for children,” he said.

Travellers can also visit Sin Gaung Thar Phyu Kyun Beach by motorboat from the jetty at Pao Wun.
