Tourism staff fully vaccinated, issued ‘safe for guests’ documents: Arakan State official
Tourism sector workers, including employees of hotels and guesthouses in the Arakan State capital Sittwe, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and are being issued a document indicating that they are “safe for guests,” said the state’s Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (DHT).

Tourism sector workers, including employees of hotels and guesthouses in the Arakan State capital Sittwe, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 and are being issued a document indicating that they are “safe for guests,” said the state’s Directorate of Hotels and Tourism (DHT).
U Tin Tun Aung, director of the DHT in Arakan State, said 16 hotels and guesthouses in Sittwe are now open once again after being checked for compliance with Covid-19 prevention regulations.
“The hotels and guesthouses that are reopened now have been provided with health and safety protocols. … Employees of hotels and tourism have been administered the Covid-19 vaccine,” he added.
Covid-19 prevention regulations were provided for hotels and guesthouses, as well as their staffs, says U Nyein Thu Aung, owner of Saydanar Moe guesthouse in Sittwe.
“Regulations [include] wearing a mask. And, we have a basin outside the guesthouse to wash hands. We spray disinfectant on luggage,” said U Nyein Thu Aung.
Arakan State’s DHT last month said 66 of 100 hotels and guesthouses had been reopened in the state.
Visitor numbers, and particularly foreign arrivals, have remained low in recent months despite the arrival of the tourism high season.
