A bomb exploded at a high school in Yebyu, Tanintharyi Region, at about 8 a.m. on Friday, according to a local resident.

The local resident told DMG that the explosion went off near the school building as students were entering to sit the second day of the matriculation exam on April 1.

“A bomb exploded near a school classroom as students were trying to enter an exam room. The bomb blast shocked students and their parents,” the Yebyu resident added.

More than 300,000 students in Myanmar registered for the ongoing matriculation examinations, which run from March 31 to April 9.
