The Arakkha Army (AA) reportedly seized a Myanmar military base near Alae Than Kyaw Village in Arakan State’s Maungdaw Township on the night of June 12.

The Arakkha Army (AA) on June 12 rescued more than 1,000 local people from Got Village, part of Arakan State’s Thandwe Township, who were trapped by fighting near the village.

Two male residents of Byaing Phyu Village in Arakan State’s Sittwe Township have died of injuries they sustained while in military custody.

The civilian casualties were reported after a military jet fighter and drones dropped multiple bombs on Latpanpyar and Thawinchaung villages on June 11, the AA’s statement said.

The trade route was reopened two weeks after officials from the United League of Arakan (ULA), the political wing of the Arakkha Army (AA), held talks with the CYLA.

About 50 junta soldiers and members of Border Guard Force Battalion No. 5 in Maungdaw Town’s Myothugyi Ward reportedly detained five local men from Wimala Village on June 10.

The injured have been identified as Daw Shwe Khin Nu, 82, from Mee Kyaung Tet Village in Kyaukphyu Township and Daw Win Win Than, 42, from Ingyin Village in Myebon Township.

The Arakkha Army (AA) has yet to attack regime positions in Kyaukphyu, the site of major Chinese investments in Arakan State, though military tensions are running high in the region.

The Myanmar regime, which faces defeat militarily in Arakan State, has been attacking innocent civilians and committing widespread human rights violations since the 2021 military coup, especially so in Arakan State of late.

The Arakkha Army (AA) has laid siege to a Myanmar military base at Alel Than Kyaw in Arakan State’s Maungdaw Township, according to sources.

Of dozens of people detained from Sittwe Township’s Byaing Phyu Village, 38 were reportedly charged under Section 17(1) of the Unlawful Associations Act and Section 188 of the Penal Code on June 9.

The possibility of a ceasefire largely depends on the regime, which has been targeting civilians in Arakan State with indiscriminate attacks, said AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha.

A junta air assault on Minbya town, which is held by the Arakkha Army (AA), killed a woman and destroyed a Buddhist monastery. The 43-year-old victim has been identified as Daw Yin Yin Aye.

The ethnic armed group is trying to supply paddy seeds, fuel, power tillers and other needed material assistance for farmers, AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha said.

“There is no escape route for local people and we are trapped by the fighting. We are worried about our safety because the military-AA clashes are getting closer to Thandwe,” said a local resident.

Villagers in Arakan State’s Kyaukphyu Township have expressed concern for their safety as the regime has planted landmines near their villages.

Thousands of residents from five villages in Sittwe Township, Arakan State, have reportedly been forced to relocate by Myanmar’s military regime.

“We have released many prisoners of war. We didn’t report every release for the sake of their safety. Particularly we released unwell prisoners of war as we can’t provide comprehensive healthcare services,” said U Khaing Thukha.

The AA has seized several junta bases, military camps and BGF outposts in Maungdaw. It has also stepped up attacks on Border Guard Police Battalion Nos. 2, 4, and 5.
