The administrator of Padin (Muslim) village in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, was abducted by an unidentified group in the early hours of August 17.

The administrator of Padin (Muslim) village in Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, was abducted by an unidentified group in the early hours of August 17.
Five armed, masked men broke down the door of the village administrator’s home at about 2 a.m. and kidnapped him, the Pandawpyin (Muslim) village administrator told DMG.
“We do not know who they are or where he was taken,” he said.
They demanded that the wife of the administrator hand over their valuables, and she gave them gold items including 20 gold bracelets, weighing about 40 ticals in total, according to the police report.
They also took rice and edible oil from the house before leaving with the administrator, the report said.
U Kan Tun Aung, the Maungdaw Township administrator, said he had told police forces to search for the armed men.
On May 23, four unidentified armed men arrived at the house of a furniture shop owner in Maungdaw town, and abducted the owner and his son.
The father was released on June 8 and his son was released on June 22.
