Fighting between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) is escalating in Arakan State’s Taungup, where the regime’s No. 5 Military Operations Command is based.

As many as 680,000 people have been displaced in Arakan State by fighting from the February 2021 coup through the end of October, according to a recent report by the Institute for Strategy and Policy-Myanmar (ISP-Myanmar).

The Myanmar Embassy in Bangkok announced Friday that illegal Myanmar migrants in Thailand would be fined and barred from re-entering Thailand, with the embassy threatening to target Myanmar migrants who have overstayed their visas with legal action.

The AA seized control of the No. 374 Artillery Battalion and No. 8 Advanced Signal Battalion in Ann on November 7, according to a military source.

A beauty product shop owner from Kyauktaw Town said: "Those products are popular among women in their 30s who have melasma and dark spots. As they are high in demand, almost all the shops sell them."

Women in Arakan State are receiving less assistance and fewer opportunities as organisations promoting and defending women’s rights and empowerment have become less active in the war-ravaged state.

Since the first week of November, the regime has been using water routes to transport weapons including howitzers from Ayeyarwady Region to Gwa Township.

At often-flimsy displacement camps, people have to sleep on the floor without a bed, and they also don’t have warm clothes, which are risk factors for elderly persons.

Since early October, churches have been required to seek the approval of the local police station for Sunday prayers. They are also required to report how many people will join the congregation.

The AA captured the two junta positions near Taingkyo Village, about 17 miles from Gwa, after it clashed fiercely with the military on November 3 and 4.

Myanmar’s military regime reportedly carried out airstrikes on three villages in Arakan State’s Thandwe and Taungup townships on November 6.

The Arakkha Army (AA) has captured a junta battalion and an ordnance depot in Arakan State’s Ann Township, where the Myanmar military’s Western Command is based, according to military sources.

Resistance forces attacked two junta outposts near Gotegyi Village and Mile Post 11 on the Ann-Padan road in Ngape Township at around 11 p.m. on November 5, with the skirmish lasting about 30 minutes.

“We are trying to become a major global food supplier by utilising the good foundation given by nature for agriculture and livestock farming,” said the junta leader.

Anti-regime groups have made the international community misjudge his regime and China while exploiting the situation to achieve political and military gains, and facilitating illegal trade, said Min Aung Hlaing.

The regime carried out its bombardment of Dainggyi after junta soldiers stationed at the village monastery, school and homes withdrew due to an offensive by the Arakkha Army (AA).

The NUG, the Karen National Union, the Karenni National Progressive Party and the Chin National Front held a joint press conference on Tuesday as Min Aung Hlaing was on his first visit to China since the 2021 coup.

The radar station is reportedly equipped with a complex air defence system capable of detecting drones and radio signals, and is thus crucial for the regime.
