15 mass casualty incidents from regime airstrikes reported in Arakan State since 2023
Civilian casualties in Arakan State are increasing due to airstrikes by Myanmar’s military regime. According to figures compiled by DMG, 15 mass casualty incidents, in which 10 or more people were killed or injured, have been documented from November 2023 to the end of February 2026.

Civilian casualties in Arakan State are increasing due to airstrikes by Myanmar’s military regime. According to figures compiled by DMG, 15 mass casualty incidents, in which 10 or more people were killed or injured, have been documented from November 2023 to the end of February 2026.
Mass casualty incidents in 2024
On March 18, a junta airstrike on Thadar Village in Minbya Township killed 22 people and injured 29. On August 18, an airstrike on Kyeintalin Town in Gwa Township left 11 dead and 10 injured.
On September 8, the military regime carried out an airstrike on Shin Village in Pauktaw Township, killing 17 prisoners and prisoners of war (POWs). On September 9, a regime airstrike on the No. 2 Border Guard Force position in Maungdaw Township resulted in the deaths of 50 POWs.
On September 26, an airstrike on Thandwe Town Hall killed 14 people, including internally displaced persons (IDPs), and injured 25.
On October 4, the military regime launched an airstrike on Kintaung Model Village in Taungup Township, killing 11 people and injuring two. On October 7, an airstrike on Tanhlwe Ywama Village left 13 dead and six injured.
Mass casualty incidents in 2025
On January 8, the military regime conducted an airstrike on Kyauknimaw Village in Ramree Township, killing 26 people and injuring 27.
On January 18, an airstrike on the Ramchaung area in Mrauk-U Township killed 28 prisoners and family members, and injured 25.
On March 13, an airstrike on Tun Rawai Village in Rathedaung Township left 12 dead and 23 injured. On August 22, the bombing of Daingkyi Village in Mrauk-U Township killed 15 people and wounded 17.
On September 22, a private high school in Thayet Ta Bin Village, Kyauktaw Township, was bombed, killing 20 students and injuring 21. On December 10, International Human Rights Day, an airstrike on Mrauk-U Hospital resulted in 33 deaths and 77 injuries.
Mass casualty incidents in 2026
On January 20, an airstrike on Chaungtu Detention Center in Kyauktaw Township killed 21 prisoners and family members, and injured 30.
On February 24, a bombing in Yoengu Village, Ponnagyun Township, killed 20 people and injured 12.
Among the documented incidents, the bombing of Mrauk-U Hospital and the airstrikes on Tun Rawai, Thayet Ta Bin, Kyauknimaw and Yoengu villages were among the deadliest.
Since the beginning of this year, the military regime has intensified airstrikes in Arakan State. With aerial attacks ongoing, local residents continue to face insecurity amid the threat of further airstrikes.
