Clashes intensify between regime forces and AA-led resistance troops in Ngaphe Twsp

Fierce fighting has broken out between the Myanmar military and the Arakan Army (AA) and its allied forces near Pazi Village in Ngaphe Township, Magway Region, with the military carrying out attacks using air support.

Military sources said Arakan Army-led forces have blocked and attacked a junta column attempting to reinforce the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base between Pazi and Khunzu villages, leading to several consecutive days of intense clashes.

“There was a clash with a junta column advancing towards Pazi Village, which is held by the Arakan Army and its allies. The fighting is still ongoing. Airstrikes have continued without stopping,” a military source said.

Although resistance forces headed by the Arakan Army had previously captured all outpost bases near the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base, the regime is now launching offensives on Gotegyi and Pazi villages with significant military strength.

In March and April, the regime reinforced its positions along the Ann-Padan Road in the Arakan mountain range, resulting in repeated clashes.

“They are continuously sending reinforcements to this area. Previously, they also used air support to deliver rations and manpower. There have been ongoing clashes near the Nat Yay Kan hilltop base. Now, the air force is carrying out daily attacks,” another military source said.

Reports indicate that the regime is using kamikaze drones and heavy artillery in its attacks.

Fighting along the Ann-Padan Road in the Arakan mountain range, which connects Arakan State and Magway Region, has continued for years, with resistance troops led by the Arakan Army maintaining control of the route.

While the regime has invited ethnic armed organizations and People’s Defence Forces to peace talks, it continues to intensify offensives using both ground troops and air power.
