Five internally displaced people (IDPs) including a Buddhist monk and a child were reportedly injured in a junta air attack on Buthidaung, Arakan State, at around 2:30 a.m. on November 10.
The displaced civilians were injured after a junta air assault hit Mya Sein Yaung Monastery in Ward 5 and Lanma Monastery in Ward 2 of Buthidaung on Sunday.
“A Buddhist monk and four displaced civilians were wounded in the regime airstrikes on two monasteries in Buthidaung,” said a source.
The injured have been identified as U Zawana, 62, U Fawtin, a 45-year-old Hindu man and his son Maung Moe Khant, 11, Daw Chit Su Ma, 42, and Ko Aung Thu, 31.
The conditions of three of the injured are considered life-threatening, and they are receiving medical treatment. Some religious buildings were damaged in the regime airstrikes.
Two women were killed in a junta air attack on Thandwe, and some homes and school buildings were destroyed in the regime airstrikes on November 10.
Civilian casualties continue to occur every day as the regime is deliberately targeting towns, villages, monasteries, schools and other locations where civilians live.
“Lately, the regime has seen more targeted attacks on civilians. The regime considers the people as enemies and attacks them, so it is necessary for the people to live with vigilance,” said a former lawmaker in Arakan State.
