Two women were injured in a Myanmar junta air attack on Chaungthonekhwa Village, part of Arakan State's Taungup Township, on Saturday.
The two women were wounded after a regime jet fighter dropped multiple bombs on the village on October 19, according to a resident of Taungup.
"A junta jet fighter carried out airstrikes on the villages three times without any fighting in the area. The junta jet fighter dropped four bombs on the village, wounding two women," the Taungup resident said.
The injured have been identified as Daw Ma Chit Su, 38, and Daw Yi Yi Soe, 48. They are reportedly receiving emergency medical treatment.
The regime's aerial bombardment also destroyed the village monastery, other religious buildings and some homes.
"We live in fear when we hear the sound of junta jet fighters. We are worried that the junta jet fighters will drop bombs on residential areas," said a local woman.
Three civilians were also injured in a regime air attack on Taungup Township's Paukinn Village on October 14.
Due to the junta's aerial attacks, civilian casualties are increasing in Taungup Township, where fighting between the Myanmar military and Arakkha Army (AA) has not been intense thus far except for a handful of clashes.
