Almost all residents of Taungkyarinn village in Kayin State’s Kyonedoe Township fled to safer locations after artillery shells landed and exploded in the village on September 6.

The Myanmar military reportedly arrested a local man in Mrauk-U, Arakan State, on Sunday morning, hours after entering the town and indiscriminately opening fire.

The Arakan Army (AA) chief lashed out at Myanmar’s military regime via Twitter on Sunday, accusing the junta of “unleashing their dastardly playbook” on civilians in Mrauk-U, which has hosted some of the latest fighting between the military and Arakan Army. 

Nineteen Muslims were arrested near Dauntchaung village in Arakan State’s Gwa Township at around 11 p.m. on September 2, according to the township police station.
