The number of IDPs who were forced from their homes due to ongoing conflicts between the Myanmar Army and the AA has now reached 34, 589, according to the Rakhine Ethnic Congress.

“We will supply water to villages facing a water crisis as soon as possible. We are also preparing for water facilities next year. We will get water from anywhere and supply them by car, boat or by any other means of transportation,”

The Tatmadaw and AA exchanged accusations about the discovery of four remote controlled landmines on Ahngumaw- Maungdaw road on April 18.

Villagers from Nwayonetaung village in Buthidaung Township, who fled from their homes when the Tatmadaw launched artillery fire near their village since April 19 morning,

 “They mainly need rice and other essential food. But, refugees from the IDP sites in rural areas need firewood also. The second priority is health care and adequate toilet facilities,”

“We came here around 4 p.m yesterday. We were afraid of the barrage of artillery fire. We ran to any direction could we see. We met one another at Zedidaung village.”

“People are fleeing. They shoot weapons at night and launch shooting sprees on a daily basis, they are shooting now,” a woman from Baungdwet village said.

“The village is located between No.377 and 378 Light Infantries. The shots were fired by the No. 378 Light Infantry adjacent to the village,” the villager said.

“They entered and searched through our village. And they got a list of people from a house. It is the list of the village sentry that includes 35 people. They said that it was the list of the AA troops and they found 19 people with the same name on the list,” he said.

“Since we are seeking to list Mrauk-U as a world heritage site, artillery shells and bullets should not hit in the precinct of the ancient city,” said U Tun Tha Sein, Rakhine State Hluttaw representative for Mrauk-U Township.

“While they were hiding in a monastery, bullets hit the roof. A bullet hit the mother first and then hit the daughter,” one of the residents from Mrauk-U said.

"My brother and his friend were on a motorcycle when they were hit by a vehicle from the  Engineering Company. The driver of the vehicle was trying to overtake another car on the road," said U Aung Than Win, elder brother of Maung Win Htay.

“We can be called the Arakan Army in English, but it can be called Arakan Tat Taw, omitting the Myanmar phrase “ma” from the previous name,” the AA’s chief said.
