Hostilities between the Arakkha Army (AA) and military are escalating as the former steps up attacks on the latter's Border Guard Force (BGF) No. 5, the last standing junta battalion in besieged Maungdaw.

A bomb dropped by a junta jet fighter landed and exploded in the compound of the village school, wounding U Oo Kyaw Hsan, a man in his 50s, on October 11.

Muslim armed groups such as ARSA, the Rohingya Solidarity Organization (RSO) and the Arakan Rohingya Army (ARA) have been accused of killing local civilians in northern Arakan State.

"Conflict persists in the Northwest, Northeast, Southeast, and Rakhine [Arakan] State, resulting in new displacement, civilian casualties and rising protection concerns," said the UN humanitarian agency's October 10 report.

A junta jet fighter dropped bombs on Kyauktaw at around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, hitting the No. 2 basic education middle school and two powder mills, and causing the mass civilian casualties.

She was arrested after an unknown person filed a complaint with the Tamwe Township police accusing her of supporting armed groups, said a fellow singer close to Hsu Myat Htet.

Two residents from No. 2 Ward in Buthidaung Town who went missing on Monday were found beheaded and buried in Gone Nar (Muslim) Village, according to the Arakkha Army (AA).

The four men were arrested near the Kyauktalone security checkpoint on the morning of October 10 while they were attempting to carry foodstuffs purchased from Kyaukphyu.

The AA has seized the Taw Hein Taung tactical command and Me Taung tactical command, both considered crucial for the defence of the Western Command, with hostilities now taking place just 3 miles from Ann Town.

Internally displaced people (IDPs) in Thandwe Township are struggling to survive due to job scarcity, skyrocketing commodity prices and a lack of humanitarian assistance, said an aid worker.

Arakan State experienced 176 attacks resulting in 101 civilian fatalities - the highest number of airstrikes among 12 regions and states targeted by the junta's aerial bombardments during the period documented.

Hundreds of political prisoners from Sittwe Prison in the Arakan State capital were transferred to Pathein Prison in Ayeyarwady Region on Tuesday night.

The AA has so far seized the No. 9 Military Operations Command in Kyauktaw and the No. 15 Military Operations Command in Buthidaung, Arakan State.
