The body of an unidentified man was found dead on the lawn near a nursing home on Strand Road in the Arakan State capital Sittwe at around 8 a.m. on Saturday.
The body of the man is believed to have been stabbed in the chest, and the deceased was about 30 years old, according to Ko Thar Chay, vice chairman of the Myettar Yaung Chi Foundation.
“The victim was found stabbed in the chest with a knife or scissors. His other injuries are not known with certainty,” he told DMG.
The body was taken to Sittwe General Hospital’s morgue by the Sittwe-based Myettar Yaung Chi Foundation, a local philanthropic association.
DMG’s attempts to contact the office of the Arakan State police for comment on the matter were unsuccessful.
