The Arakan Army (AA) seized a junta tactical command base in Paletwa Township, Chin State, and at Point 377, a military camp on the Myanmar-India border, the ethnic armed group said in a statement on December 29.

The AA occupied the junta tactical command base near Khawe Village at about 6 a.m. on December 27 and the Point 377 military camp at around 9 a.m. on December 28.

AA fighters seized a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and military equipment, and the bodies of junta soldiers killed in combat were reported to have been properly buried, the statement said.

The regime soldiers who escaped without surrendering are being hunted down, and anyone who surrenders will be guaranteed safety and the opportunity to meet with their families, the AA said.

Fighting between the military and AA has been intensifying in Paletwa Township since November 14. The Arakan Army previously seized junta tactical command outposts in Taron Eain and Nonebu villages.

The AA has seized a total of 19 military camps in Paletwa Township, including the two tactical command outposts, during the latest hostilities. The AA seized the district police station in Mrauk-U, Arakan State, on December 26.

Among the military camps targeted by the AA, most have been completely captured, while others have been partially captured and or are on the verge of being completely taken, the ethnic armed group said in a statement.
