Aid workers say that displaced people in Kyaukphyu Township, Arakan State, who were forced to flee their homes due to fighting between Myanmar's military regime and the Arakan Army are facing starvation due to a lack of aid.
A man who helps displaced people said that while local social organisations are doing everything they can to help them with their livelihoods, the lack of donors is causing many difficulties.
"We are also working hard to help displaced people. But when helping displaced people depends on receiving aid, we are completely unable to keep up. We haven't finished supporting the displaced people in that village, and the problem is that the displaced people in this village are already starving," said the man.
Currently, nearby villages and social organisations are working together to provide food and shelter to the displaced, and they are in urgent need of assistance, including mosquito nets and other necessities.
In Kyaukphyu Township, conflict-affected people are suffering even more due to a lack of jobs and lack of assistance.
Humanitarian operations are also being affected by the Myanmar military regime's attacks on civilian settlements, road blockades, food cuts, and mobile phone and internet shutdowns.
"We don't want to live like this, not eating well or sleeping well. I want this conflict to end as soon as possible," said a displaced woman in Kyaukphyu Township.
Fighting in Kyaukphyu Township since late February has forced tens of thousands of residents from at least 30 villages to flee.
