Locals say Myanmar's military regime has completely banned the transportation of food and medicine to some villages in Ingapu Township, Ayeyarwady Region, while other villages are also prohibited from transporting more than five days' worth of food.

The military regime has banned all transportation of food, medicine and fuel to Kyeepin and Htonepaw villages in Ingapu Township, located at the foot of the Arakan Mountains, since July 25.

Similarly, the military regime has restricted residents of Peinnhekwin, Taungsin, Padatgon and Gwatgyi villages, on the Pathein-Monywa road, from carrying more than five days' worth of food and medicine.

"These restrictions are imposed by the military regime. Junta soldiers also check food at security checkpoints at the entrance and exit of the town, as well as at the Kwinkauk security checkpoint," said one local man.

Fighting has been ongoing between the Myanmar military and a joint coalition of forces in Ingapu Township since May, with the former reportedly losing some villages to the resistance groups.

Locals say the military regime's restrictions are only adding to the civilian populations' woes.

"Restricting the transportation of food and medicine is tantamount to starving the locals living in those villages. The military regime is cutting off food supplies to the revolutionary forces, but it is the people who are really suffering," said another local man.

The Arakan Army (AA) and local anti-regime forces are conducting joint military operations in Ayeyarwady Region, with clashes reported in Ingapu, Laymyethna, Yekyi, Thabaung and Pathein townships.

Currently, there is no direct fighting between the military and anti-regime forces in Ingapu Township, but military tensions remain.

In May, the regime restricted the delivery of food and medicine to some villages in Ayeyarwady Region's Laymyethna and Yekyi townships, according to local residents.

The junta has reinforced its forces in Laymyethna Township in recent days, and there are also clashes between the two sides elsewhere in Ayeyarwady Region, according to military sources.
