Initial reports indicate that Myanmar’s military regime launched airstrikes using fighter jets and a Y-12 aircraft on Kyeinchaung Village and surrounding areas in Arakan Army-controlled Maungdaw Township, Arakan State, at around 2:00 PM on July 2.

A local resident said a fleet of aircraft dropped more than 10 bombs near Kyeinchaung Village along the Arakan-Bangladesh border and in the vicinity of Border Guard Force Battalion No. 7.

"They bombed the mountain ranges east of Kyeinchaung Village and the area near Border Guard Force Battalion 7. Detailed information is not yet known. I cannot confirm whether there is property damage or casualties," the resident said.

DMG is continuing to verify the situation surrounding the attack.

Kyeinchaung Village is a densely populated settlement located near the Taungpyo Letwe junction in northern Maungdaw Township.

"Maungdaw residents are extremely worried right now. They launched airstrikes last night and again today, so it is happening daily. People are living in fear," another resident said.

On July 1, the regime also dropped more than 10 bombs using fighter jets and a Y-12 aircraft near the entrance arch of Maungdaw town, the 3-Mile area, and the vicinity of Border Guard Force Battalion No. 5.

The regime has been carrying out near-daily airstrikes with multiple aircraft along the Bangladesh border areas, including Buthidaung and Maungdaw townships, in recent days.

On July 1, junta airstrikes also hit areas near the former Military Operations Command No. 15 headquarters and a Muslim village in Buthidaung Township, injuring at least three people.

On June 24, a junta airstrike near the former Ethnic Youth Development Training School in the Maungdaw border area injured two women.
