Two civilians from Chaung Gyi village, Myebon Township, have been released on the evening of 22 October after being taken on Monday by the Tatmadaw for questioning, according to the village administrator U Maung San.
U Tun Myint, a 51-year-old restaurant owner, and Ko Naing Linn, a 29-year-old school bus driver, were taken to the No.9 Tatmadaw training School in Kan Nee village, Minbya Township, on 21 October to ask if they have ties with the AA or not, U Maung San said.
“They reached their homes at about 5 P.M. on Tuesday. They were asked if they were involved with the AA. Their faces were covered with masks during the questioning, there was no physical abuse,” the village administrator said.
The armed conflict between the Tatmadaw and the AA has been intensifying in Arakan State.
Meanwhile, the Tatmadaw enters some Arakanese villages on suspicion of existing AA members and searches houses or detains villagers.
The number of detained people on suspicion of involvement with the AA has now reached 217, the Rakhine Ethnic Congress (REC) said.
