A local philanthropic group is providing more than K10 million to over 200 families of people sentenced to prison in Arakan State after being charged under the Counter-Terrorism Law, or who went missing during clashes between the military and Arakan Army (AA).

Locals in Chin State’s Paletwa Township have been restricted from leaving their homes after 11 a.m. due to a recent increase in the number of people infected with Covid-19.

Authorities in Gwa Township, Arakan State, have arranged to take action against three people under the Natural Disaster Management Law for breaching a local stay-at-home order, an official of the Gwa Township General Administration Department (GAD) told DMG.

The Arakan Army has been closely monitoring the situation as the Myanmar military has strengthened its forces in some parts of Arakan State, according to U Khaing Thukha, spokesman for the AA.

Local youth organisations in Mrauk-U District have provided basic food items to support families and members of the grassroots who are struggling to make ends meet during the Covid-19 pandemic.
