The Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army are fighting on a section of the Yangon-Sittwe road between Kyauktaw and Mrauk-U Township, this has raised concerns among bus lines and passengers regarding their safety.

The vehicles were headed to Ponnagyun Township from Kyauktaw Township and were destroyed by a fire that occurred near Yoetayoke village at about 7 p.m. on 29 August, according to villagers.

They have been stranded when fighting occurred between the Tatmadaw and the Arakan Army (AA) on 28 August at Linn Mway Taung Mountain range in Mrauk-U Township.

Parliamentarians and lawyers say the rights of families with members who died in Tatmadaw custody in Arakan State have been violated because they were not given the chance to retrieve the bodies of their relatives.

A Mrauk-U court on August 27 granted bail to Soe Moe Kyaw from Pyine Cha village in Mrauk-U township because he is under 18, nearly five months after he was detained on a Counter-terrorism Law charge.
