The military junta has intensified its airstrikes across Arakan State, killing at least 16 civilians and injuring 53 others between November 1 and 7, according to data compiled by DMG.

Among those killed were an infant under one year old and a pregnant woman.

During the first week of November, junta airstrikes hit civilian homes, clinics, hospitals and bridges in Ponnagyun, Kyauktaw, Mrauk-U and Kyaukphyu townships, causing significant civilian casualties.

"Our civilians are facing daily suffering from the military junta's hatred and air attacks. What we want to ask from the UN and international governments is to move beyond statements of concern and take effective measures to protect civilians, exert strong pressure to halt airstrikes, and ensure perpetrators of war crimes are held legally accountable," said Ko Zaw Than Oo, an Arakanese youth.

Junta airstrikes on civilian areas and infrastructure in Arakan State have continued, with civilian casualties mounting.

On November 5, a junta airstrike on Nankyar Village in Mrauk-U Township killed a pregnant woman and injured more than 10 other civilians.

Earlier, on November 1, airstrikes on a maternity clinic in Mrauk-U Town and Yoe Creek Bridge in Kyauktaw Township killed and injured more than 30 civilians, including children.

"Civilians dying from air attacks has become almost a daily occurrence. Because of this, people feel unsafe even inside their own homes. Whenever we hear the sound of an aircraft, we have nowhere safe to hide," said a female resident of Mrauk-U.

From January 2026 through the first week of November, nearly 700 civilians have been killed or injured in junta airstrikes in Arakan State, according to DMG's data.

International humanitarian law prohibits parties to an armed conflict from directing attacks against civilians. It also prohibits the use of civilians as human shields.

However, the military junta continues to carry out airstrikes and arbitrary arrests targeting civilians across the country, with those responsible rarely held accountable.
