Fighting between military, TNLA escalates in northern Shan State
The TNLA said renewed fighting broke out in Kyaukme and Nawnghkio townships and Mogok Township early Tuesday morning, marking a restart of the anti-regime “Operation 1027”.

Renewed fighting between Myanmar’s military regime and the Ta’ang National Liberation Army (TNLA) is escalating in Kyaukme and Nawnghkio townships in northern Shan State, and Mandalay Region’s Mogok Township.
The TNLA clashed with the military at two locations on Wednesday morning, the ethnic armed group said in a statement.
Clashes between the military and TNLA were reported at the military’s Light Infantry Battalion No. 115 in Nawnghkio Township and a hilltop base in Mogok Township at around 11 a.m. on June 26.
A coalition force led by the TNLA took control of important locations in Kyaukme and Nawnghkio townships, the TNLA said. Clashes between the military and resistance forces are intensifying at military outposts, junta bases and camps in the two Shan State townships.
Thousands of civilians were forced to flee their homes by fierce clashes between the military and TNLA in Mogok, Kyaukme, Nawnghkio and Momeik townships.
Renewed fighting broke out between the regime and the TNLA in northern Shan State on June 25, effectively ending a China-brokered ceasefire.
