As conflict in Kyaukphyu Township has persisted for more than a year, residents from over 100 villages have been forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in safer areas.

There are approximately 30,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Kyaukphyu Township, with many sheltering across Kyaukphyu and Ramree townships, while others have fled to different parts of Arakan State and mainland Myanmar.

IDPs in Ramree and Kyaukphyu townships are facing severe shortages of basic necessities, including drinking water, food, and shelter, and are in urgent need of emergency assistance.

During the period of conflict, at least 152 civilians have been killed or injured due to offensives by Myanmar’s military regime, including ground operations, naval attacks, and airstrikes.
