The Arakan State Administration Council (ASAC) of Myanmar’s military regime has urged local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Arakan State to try and look for markets by taking advantage of an ongoing exhibition of local products.

A MSME product expo kicked off Wednesday in Sittwe to commemorate the 48th anniversary of Arakan State Day. The expo includes 51 booths selling products manufactured by local MSMEs.

“I would like to urge MSEM business owners to network with each other, and find market opportunities,” said Arakan State economic minister U San Shwe Maung in his opening address.

U Tin Nyein Oo, the owner of Oh Thugyi food manufacturing, which runs a booth at the MSME expo, said the expo is hugely beneficial to local MSMEs.

“Such an expo helps us attract public attention, and allows us to display the standards of locally manufactured products. This is very beneficial to our businesses,” he said.

Locally manufactured products from different parts of Arakan are being exhibited at the expo, thereby attracting public interest, said MSME business owners.

“This expo presents us an opportunity to promote our products to people from different parts of Arakan,” said Ma Khin Khin San, who is selling hair tonic at the expo.

The expo features 51 booths selling products including woven clothes, foodstuffs, cosmetics, agricultural and livestock equipment and beverages. The expo will be held for three days, concluding on December 16.
