The civilian casualties were reported after a bomb dropped by the junta plane exploded near the main junction of the Ponnagyun-Rathedaung road at around 4 p.m. on September 17.

“We have no more homes and are facing food challenges as the recent flood destroyed our homes. We evacuated to safer locations in advance,” said a resident of Minbya Township.

The evictees are currently staying in Sittwe's Kontan, Mizan and Shwe Pyar wards, with some taking shelter at the monasteries there.

Residents have accused the military of planting landmines near about 20 villages in Kyaukphyu Township.

Junta soldiers arrested dozens of local residents from Oh Tan, Mizan and Shwepyar wards in Sittwe at around 2 p.m. on September 13 on the pretext of having conducted overnight guest checks.

Many of the victims have been women and children. Regime airstrikes and artillery attacks killed 73 children and injured 186. Meanwhile, 127 women were killed and 315 women were wounded in those attacks.

Gwa Township residents are facing the shortages as the regime has banned the transportation of food and commodities from Ayeyarwady Region into the area.
