The possibility of a ceasefire largely depends on the regime, which has been targeting civilians in Arakan State with indiscriminate attacks, said AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha.

A junta air assault on Minbya town, which is held by the Arakkha Army (AA), killed a woman and destroyed a Buddhist monastery. The 43-year-old victim has been identified as Daw Yin Yin Aye.

The ethnic armed group is trying to supply paddy seeds, fuel, power tillers and other needed material assistance for farmers, AA spokesman U Khaing Thukha said.

“There is no escape route for local people and we are trapped by the fighting. We are worried about our safety because the military-AA clashes are getting closer to Thandwe,” said a local resident.

A total of 203 Arakanese social and fraternal organisations abroad have issued a statement condemning the junta’s recent massacre of civilians in Sittwe Township’s Byaing Phyu Village.
