Junta soldiers deployed on the campus of Taungup University in Arakan State’s Taungup Town broke into the apartment of the university rector and stole valuables, sources told DMG.

The junta-appointed Union Election Commission (UEC) on Monday rejected the registration of the Arakan National Party (ANP) for allegedly violating the Political Parties Registration Law.

Family members have expressed concerns for the safety of Thandwe Prison inmates in Arakan State’s Thandwe as fighting has intensified in the township and closed in on the town.

“We ask residents not to return to the town and villages near the town until we issue further notice regarding their return,” said Matupi CDF Brigade 1.

“Some pharmacies are still open, but we can’t buy the medicines we need. People who remain in the town can barely get any healthcare services,” said a Taungup resident.

A junta jet fighter on Sunday night dropped a 500-lb bomb on Ward-1 in Kyaukme, destroying a hotel, a Buddhist monastery and about 20 homes.

Thousands of people from Thandwe Township who have fled the war are taking refuge in Gwa Township, and locals fear the military-AA hostilities will spread.

Most of the civilian casualties were reported in Thandwe Township, with 24 fatalities recorded, according to data compiled by DMG from June 1-30.

Since the 2021 coup, most of them were killed by airstrikes, followed by shootings. Seventeen were killed in airstrikes and 12 were gunned down, according to the AAPP.

The farmers said that only about 30 percent of the farmland in these areas has been planted with monsoon paddy due to the threat of junta shellings, airstrikes, and landmines.

Thousands of people displaced by the fighting in Thandwe are taking shelter at 16 displacement camps. The majority of them are women, elderly people and children.

Shwe Kyaung Pyin Village is located near Thandwe Town, and the junta air assault destroyed a monastery and some homes in the village, said a resident of Thandwe.

Hundreds of traders found themselves stuck on the road with goods in tow after the CYLA blockaded the route used to import goods from Lawngtlai to Arakan State through Paletwa Township as of June 24.

The case in Argentina is the first universal jurisdiction case anywhere in the world concerning the Rohingya genocide, according to the statement.

One social activist from Arakan State said: “Only Gwa and Manaung are under the full control of the military council in Arakan State. How can it conduct a population census?”

"In recent months, the Myanmar military junta's war of terror against Myanmar people and its fighting with the Arakan Army (AA) have resulted in horrendous human rights violations and international crimes in Rakhine [Arakan] State," said the open letter.

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has suspended its humanitarian operations in the Arakan State townships of Rathedaung, Buthidaung and Maungdaw, the organisation said in a statement on June 27.

The military regime’s sentence of five years’ imprisonment for the two DMG employees not only suppresses the media, but also infringes on freedom of the press, the right of journalists to be safe and secure, and the right of the people to know the truth.

Hundreds of villagers were detained when junta troops raided Byaing Phyu Village, Sittwe Township, in late May. Relatives say they still cannot contact more than 150 detainees and have expressed concerns for their safety.
