Fierce clashes are ongoing at the Maung Shwe Lay naval base in Thandwe Township and in Kyaukparsat and Kalarpyin villages near Kyeintali Town in Gwa Township.

The AA drove the junta forces, who had taken positions in downtown Maungdaw, out of the border town and warned the regime forces in BGF Battalion No. 5 to surrender.

“We will continue to do what is necessary to restore the country to its previous condition. For that to happen, we need the understanding and cooperation of the people,” Min Aung Hlaing said.

The AASYC works to protect the rights of students inside and outside Arakan State. It also provides intensive women’s empowerment training courses in Arakan State.

In a statement on August 23, Türk said that tens of thousands of people, which included a substantial number of Musims, had fled a major offensive of the AA over the past four months.

The regime, which is sure to give up Maungdaw, has burned down houses and buildings in the border town and is fleeing by means of fighting, according to the AA.

The IDPs rely on the forests to make a living but they are worried about the threats of landmines planted by the military during the fighting, said an IDP woman taking refuge in Minphu Village.

Clashes were continuing to escalate as the military responded to the AA’s attack with aerial and naval support, the AA’s statement said.

The 37-year-old victim, identified as U Maung Kyaw Htay, was killed after he stepped on a landmine on a hill near the military’s Light Infantry Battalion No. 550 on August 24.

“We heard that prosecution witnesses were heard, that the court will hear the case speedily because of the military situation. We know nothing else,” said a family member.

People have to seek permission from the township GAD for travel. The GAD issues the plane ticket if it approves, sources told DMG.

Students from Arakan State have transferred to Dagon University in Yangon and Pyay University in Bago as military tensions are running high in Sittwe and Taungup towns.

The department is central to the functioning of local governance, overseeing population registration, land registration, collection of demographic data, and tax collection among other administrative functions.

According to ISP-Myanmar report, the value of Chinese projects controlled by the AA is over US$2.3 billion, including projects that have not yet been implemented and whose value is unknown.

Junta authorities regularly look for unregistered overnight guests, check household registration certificates, ask for photos of Arakanese IDPs, and conduct checks on owners of homes that accommodate the IDPs.

The two freelancers, Ko Win Htut Oo and Ko Htet Myat Thu, were killed by junta soldiers at the latter’s home in Letpya Village, Kyaikto Township, on Wednesday.

Three local people were reportedly injured after a junta jet fighter bombed Maungdaw, Arakan State, at around 3 p.m. on Thursday.

Junta soldiers and allied troops raided Sittwe Township’s Byaing Phyu Village in late May, killing nearly 80 people and abducting more than 300 villagers.

“It is recalling all the veterans in Ann. My brother was recalled. The regime said it is mandatory,” said one veteran’s relative.
