Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, president of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), met Min Aung Hlaing in Naypyidaw on Monday to discuss the provision of humanitarian aid in Myanmar.

Dozens of prisoners of war (POWs) have been killed and several others injured in junta airstrikes on temporary detention camps set up by the Arakkha Army (AA) in Arakan State’s Pauktaw and Maungdaw townships in recent days.

“Among the townships that suffered damage to between 1,000 and 5,000 homes [each] are Kawlin, Kalay, Buthidaung, Myingyan, and Monywa,” according to the report.

Previously, a local cigarette manufacturing facility produced tens of thousands of cigarettes daily, but production has declined to around 3,000 pieces a day this year, according to business owners.

A landmine victim from Saichone Village in Kyaukphyu Township, Arakan State, is reportedly in need of financial assistance to treat his severe injuries.

Myanmar’s military regime reportedly detained seven local residents and released two of the detainees in Kyaukphyu, Arakan State, in two separate incidents over the past week.

By township, the deceased included 12 from Thandwe, 11 from Gwa, six from Mrauk-U, two from Rathedaung and one each from Ponnagyun, Kyaukphyu and Taungup.

The AA has said that the regime killed 76 villagers aged 15 and 70 years old, including women and children, from May 29 to June 1.

At least 90 civilians were killed and 86 were injured in junta artillery attacks and airstrikes in Arakan State in July and August, according to a DMG tally.

The Arakkha Army (AA) has seized control of Paletwa Township in Chin State and 11 towns and/or townships in Arakan State, including territories bordering on and part of the strategically important crossroads of Bangladesh, India and Myanmar.

The naval base in Sittwe’s Pyi Taw Thar Ward fired multiple rockets and artillery at Wa Phee Chat mountain and surrounding areas in Pauktaw Township at around 11 a.m. on Friday.

Clashes between the military and AA have been reported near Sarchet and Kaingkhon villages and the Gantgawkyun Reservoir since September 4, with the former responding to the latter’s attacks with aerial and naval support.

In Arakan State, where the AA has been fighting the regime for months, the ethnic armed group has seized control over the majority of the state’s 17 townships, with observers saying a meaningful census and subsequent election are therefore unlikely.

Anti-regime groups have seized five of 17 border trade stations across the country, and most of the border trade stations still under the junta’s control have also ceased operations, said the report.

In Myanmar, people generally donate blood for free, but blood donors in Ponnagyun Township are asking for compensation as unemployment and soaring food prices take a heavy toll on them.

The cargo ship carrying 750 tonnes of foodstuffs was intercepted on September 4 in the middle of its journey to Arakan State, according to merchants.

“The military council will be happy if we are fighting each other. So, we must make friends with the AA, otherwise, it might even come to Lawngtlai and create trouble.”

The NUG said that the military regime is designated as the Enemy of the State because it is working toward the total destruction of Myanmar and damaging national security and defence.

Family members say they are worried about the fate of some residents in Kyaukphyu Township, Arakan State, as their whereabouts remain unknown since their arrests months ago.
